Director of Education
Susan Gable serves as our director of education at izzit.org, an educational initiative of Free To Choose Network. She oversees the curriculum, and production of all the organization’s video-centric educational teaching units that encourage thoughtful consideration and critical thinking skills around civics, entrepreneurship, economics, the sciences, and other philosophical perspectives that have proven to advance human well-being.
Certified to teach in three states, Gable served for 10 years as an elementary school teacher prior to joining izzit. She is also a USA Today best-selling author. She's won a National Readers’ Choice Award, and a RIO (Reviewers International Organization)'s Dorothy Parker Award. Gable also teaches writing workshops, along with workshops for educators and parents, including “Literature Activities that Develop Literacy Skills,” which was presented to teachers at the New Jersey Association for Education of Young Children Conference. She presented "Be a Sherlock, Not a Sheep," a workshop on discerning fact and fiction in media (social and mass), to the AMLE (Association of Middle Level Educators) and NCSS (National Council for the Social Studies) conferences.
TEDxErie selected Gable to present a talk titled “Raising Up Kids Who Can Think for Themselves—and for Us!” which focuses on critical thinking and thoughtful discussion and debate, a key component in all of izzit's teaching units.
Gable is a member of both International Society for Technology in Education and Novelists, Inc. While obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University, Gable was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education, as well as Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology.
Gable currently lives in Erie, PA.
