Capitalism Library

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

The Capitalism Library is operated by Free To Choose Network (FTCN). This notice describes the Library's anonymous first-party measurements, its handoff to FTCN's shared Google Analytics setup, and the external media viewers used on resource pages.

Before you choose

The Library does not create its crc_uid/crc_sid identifiers, record Library events, send Library resource events to Google Analytics, or load YouTube, podcast, or third-party PDF viewers until you accept. The surrounding FTCN website currently has its own shared analytics chrome; those site-wide scripts are operated separately from the Library choice described here.

What acceptance enables

Anonymous Library identifiers. A random crc_uid identifies the browser for up to one year and a random crc_sid lasts for the browser session. These identifiers are not names or account IDs.

Resource and link events. The Library records validated source-link visits, deliberate podcast player launches, Pathway activity, and embedded-video player events. Records can include the resource ID and format, action/component, destination, page section, timestamp, browser user-agent, referring page, and anonymous IDs.

Google Analytics handoff. Source visits, verified YouTube play state, and deliberate player launches are passed to FTCN's existing shared Google Tag Manager/Google Analytics implementation. The Library does not install a second Google loader and does not use the separate LearnCapitalism.org property. Google receives the event parameters plus ordinary request information such as IP address and browser details under Google's terms.

External media. Accepted consent makes YouTube players available. Spotify/Apple podcast players and third-party PDF viewers still require a separate “Load” click. Loading an external player sends the visitor's IP address, browser details, and the requested URL to that provider. PDF viewers use a no-referrer policy and sandbox; podcast/video players use restricted referrer and sandbox settings needed for playback. The always-visible official-source link can be used instead.

How we use and retain Library data

FTCN uses Library events to understand which resources and destinations are useful and to improve the Library. FTCN does not sell Library event records. First-party event records are retained for up to 24 months; crc_uid expires after one year and crc_sid at the end of the browser session. Google and external media providers apply their own retention and privacy terms to requests they receive.

Your choices and revocation

Select Accept or Reject in the chooser. A persistent Privacy choices button lets you change the decision later. Rejecting removes the Library's anonymous identifiers, stops new first-party and Google resource events, removes loaded external media frames, and reloads the page so consent-gated players are no longer present. You can also clear site cookies in your browser.
